Faith and Fear Part 1
Show Notes Transcript

Faith and fear are the exact same spiritual force but in opposite directions. They are reciprocals - corresponding but reversed or inverted.

Join David and Lynn this week as they begin examining what fear is, how it works and what it does. The Word tells us not to be ignorant of the devil's devices and fear is one of his primary devices!

Just, just bring a chair up to the table, bless God, grab your Bible. And let's get into the things of the kingdom of God, father. We thank you for member in this television and, and, and podcast and, and whatever else this is going out to<laugh>. Thank you for everybody watching, listening, and learning. We're so grateful. Holy spirit. We're asking you to reveal, unwrap, unveil the mysteries of the kingdom of God in every individual's life. Listening to these broadcasts, these podcasts, these, oh my goodness. We're just so grateful for all of the voices, all of the avenues, all of the channels that we have available to spread the gospel of the kingdom of God, the gospel of Jesus Christ, the good news Jesus saves. He heals, he delivers and he will set you free today. Father, we thank you for it in the mighty matchless name of Jesus. Amen. Amen. Amen. You sure look pretty today. Thank you. Don't you look pretty. We are going to be talking and discussing and looking and digging into the subject of fear. It is a vastly UN misunderstood under misunderstood<laugh> subject, but it is of utmost importance today in the days that we live in and is going to become more and more important as time goes on. Uh, I, I was actually shocked. Uh, you know, and after, after all these years, it's not, it's not easy to stop. Takes a little bit. Yeah. I was very surprised over the last in, in 20 20, 20, 21, beginning of 2022, the immense amount of fear, you know, it's understandable if there's just fear in the world. I mean, that's right. Part of who they are, you know, but in the body of Christ and most especially shocking to me,<laugh> was the amount of fear in what's known as the word of faith, churches, and ministries and things like that. I've been, we we've been listening to brother Hagen and others teach on the word of faith for decades and decades about fear mm-hmm<affirmative> and how it has no place in the body of Christ in the believe's life, how it attracts the things you don't want. Right? And yet, after all of these numbers of years, the least little thing pop up and fears everywhere. And just like corporate faith will bring<affirmative>, we'll bring massive demonstrations of the power of God. Corporate fear will bring about massive demonstrations of the kingdom of darkness and sin and sickness and disease and everything Satan has to offer mm-hmm<affirmative> and that's the, oh, that's what we're seeing. It has proved out just exactly the way the laws and principles of the word of God says<laugh> that it works and we're gonna be looking at those. Cause a lot of people don't understand that. Well then I don't see how this is connected to that. Well, there's this book called the Bible and it explains how they're connected and we're gonna, we're gonna look into these things and we're gonna take some time, some considerable amount of time to look into these things. Cuz it, as I said, just a little while ago, it is absolutely imperative that you understand what fear is, how it operates, how to get it outta your life, why you need to get it out of your life and what it does in your life. If you don't get it out. And it's just going to become more and more and more important as, as the days and times in which we live, which referred to in Matthew 24 as perilous times, that's where we are. And we're, we're, we're getting, we're bumping up against the end of the age and all these things are gonna increase in frequency and increase in severity. Um, there's a reason that there's a scripture in Psalm 91 that says a thousand can fall at one side, 10,000 at your right hand, but it won't come near you that's gonna happen. And you gotta be in a place where you're not one of the 99, not one of the, I mean, not one of the thousand, not one of the 10,000, but you're the one standing there in the middle.

Speaker 3:

Here's the thing. Even if you were one of the 99. Yeah. Or one of the thousand, if you are born again. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Let's deal with that.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. Then. Okay. Yes. I would rather be here doing my part in doing my calling and helping people. But in reality, if I was one of those that fell, I would be with Jesus. I would be in heaven. Mm-hmm Hmm. That is

Speaker 2:

Gain.

Speaker 3:

Yes, absolutely. And so there's nothing to be afraid of in that. Nothing to lose. It's a win. It's a win-win<laugh>,

Speaker 2:

It's a win-win for us. We, you just, you know, I, I was reminded of that actually this morning when I was praying over these broadcasts, uh, you know, somebody to say, well, I mean, what if I die glory to God? You know? How, how would you like to make your entrance into heaven going? Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. I'm afraid I'm gonna die. I'm gonna afraid. I'm afraid I'm gonna die. Or by his stripes, I am healed. Boom. You're in heaven. Well, I didn't I'm healed. Yeah. You got healed. You, you absolutely got healed. And how, how, how would you rather come into the presence of Jesus standing on his word or being afraid with a fear that he paid the price. You didn't have to have. I slide in there on your socks. Bless God. Saying I win. That's what would happen if you know, I step out there and I die anyway. Yeah. Okay. But do it in faith. Bless God. You know, Hebrews actually in Hebrews chapter, I wasn't gonna go there may still not go there. But then Hebrews chapter 11 said all of these, talking about all the, the heroes of the first covenant, all of these died in

Speaker 3:

Faith,

Speaker 2:

You know, Hey, Hey, you don't wanna be caught dead without your faith.<laugh> okay. All right. So let's take some time and dig into this and we're gonna start in, um, John chapter 14, we'll see what Jesus said about fear and about whether we should have it, whether we shouldn't have it. Is it something we need to be, you know, should we be using some fear to our advantage? Should we, you know what, what what's, what's the scoop here from the master on, uh, on fear. So look at John. Uh, and we could read my goodness. We could read the whole chapter, but I just wanna zero in on one first period, John chapter 14. And uh, let's look at verse 27. Jesus said, peace. I leave with you. My peace. I give unto, unto you now listen up. Not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Jesus. Doesn't just give in and take it back. He's not an Indian giver. As the old saying goes, he gave his peace to you. Now look what he goes on to say, let not your heart be troubled. And if that wasn't clear enough, he goes ahead and says, neither let it be afraid. All right. That's from the words of the master, he didn't say all right, now, use a little bit of fear to teach your kids now. And I know, I know if you're not afraid about something bad happening to your kids, you're not really loving them.<laugh> that's not. What's written in red. Don't let your heart be troubled. Neither. Let it be afraid. Why? First John chapter four first John chapter four tells you exactly why it even says because<laugh> first John chapter four in verse 18, there is no fear in love, but perfected love cast it out. The, the Greek there actually means it. Flushes it out. It just flushes it out of the system. Perfect love castes out. Fear. Why? Because fear has torment. A fearful mind is a torment in mind. That's not having a peace that Jesus left for you and your loving father doesn't want you to be tormented. That's why fear has no place in your life. Now let's look at something else that, uh, the Lord has to say about fear. Look at Philippians chapter four. Now you go ahead and go there in the king, James, and I'll pull it up in the amplify classic, cuz it's really, it really makes it clear.

Speaker 3:

All right, Philippians four, starting with verse six, be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving, let your request be made, known unto God that doesn't say to point out everything bad that's happening around you because it says with prayer and Thanksgiving,

Speaker 2:

Amen,

Speaker 3:

And the peace of God, which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ. Jesus. Finally, brethren whatsoever. Things are true whatsoever. Things are honest whatsoever. Things are just whatsoever. Things are pure whatsoever. Things are lovely whatsoever. Things are a good report. If there be any virtue. And if there be any praise, think on these things, those things which you have both learned and received and heard and seen in me do. And the God of peace shall be with you.

Speaker 2:

Now, the amplified classic version of these, uh, scriptures does exactly what the amplified version's supposed to do. It amplifies it<laugh> they go back and they look at the Greek and uh, and, and add descriptions to it, to amplify the meaning. So let's look at it in verse six. He just, it just doesn't get much more clear than this. Do not fret or have any anxiety. How much, any anxiety about anything<laugh> don't have any anxiety about some things, but it's okay to have anxiety about this. No, do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything by prayer and petition, definite requests with Thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God and the God of peace. Oh, glory to God, the God of peace Shall and God's peace. He is the guy later. It says, the God of peace will be with you. But this says God's peace itself. God's peace shall be yours shall be yours. My peace I leave with you. Here's the second confirming witness. The God's peace shall be yours, which transcends all understanding it. Doesn't MI. It doesn't matter if your mind screaming at you that you're supposed to be afraid. God's peace passes all understanding it, transcends it. Now listen to this. It shall Garrison and Mount guard, not only over your heart, but also your mind in Christ Jesus. That's where this takes place. You've gotta be in Christ Jesus For the rest brethren, whatever whatsoever is true whatsoever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly and fearful. Oh no, no, no. Excuse me. That's not in there. No fear doesn't fit in with these things whatsoever is just whatsoever is pure. Whatsoever is lovely, lovable, whatever is kind win some gracious. If there's gonna be any virtue in excellence. If there's, if there's anything that's worthy of praise, think on way and take account of these things, fix your mind on them. Next verse says, practice what you have learned and received and heard model your way of living on it. This is the way you're supposed to live

Speaker 3:

So many times we think about the Bible being one of those things that, okay, it tells us these things, but it doesn't tell us exactly how to walk it out. This is an example of where he tells us exactly how to walk it out, because he's saying my piece is here for you. And here's how you do it. You think about the things that are good, the things that are just the things that are of good report, you need to spend more time thinking about these good things than whatever social media and the news and your friends and your family are telling you is wrong.

Speaker 2:

Mm-hmm<affirmative>, we're gonna be looking at that coming up. Mm<laugh>. I don't know if it's gonna be this broadcast or not. Probably not, but we're gonna be looking at the words that you listen to the, the social media, the news that you know, and all that kind of stuff. And we're gonna look at the, there's nothing new under the sun, the bad words and the fake news and all that kind of stuff. Didn't start this year, last year or year before it goes way

Speaker 3:

Back. Even with David and Goliath.

Speaker 2:

Hey,

Speaker 3:

Okay. You looking at

Speaker 2:

The news<laugh> but listen, now those things that she just read that we're supposed to be thinking about now, fearful fear was not listed amongst any of those things, but let me show you what it is listed among. Okay. Over in revelation, chapter 21. And, uh, it was starting verse seven. He did<affirmative> um, shall inherit all things. And so that's that you wanna be an overcomer. I'll just give you a hint there. Okay. That's kinda like when Jesus said and Deuteronomy 30, uh, you know, I said before you life and death, death, uh, life and death, blessing and cursing choose life. Okay. I'll go ahead and give you a hint. Um, if overcomers inherit all things, you wanna be an overcomer. Okay. Just, just go ahead and make that up. Um, I will be his God and he shall be my son now listen, but the fearful and the unbelieving and the abominable and the murderers and the harmers and the SORs and the daughters and liars. Okay. So now you see what it is listed among. It's not listed among all these things that he tells us we're supposed to be thinking about, but it is listed among all these things that are abominable before, before God. Okay. So now we have that firmly established<laugh>. Now I would think that's pretty firmly established. I would think so. Okay. We got faith and we got fear. It's kinda like having life, death, blessing, blessing, cursing. Okay. It's a pretty solid dividing line between God and the devil and what they have and all that kind of stuff. So we've got that firmly established. I think we've spent enough time on that. Now let's go ahead and move on. Let's find out if we, if we know we're not supposed to have fear and we're supposed to operate in faith, how are we gonna find out about it? Most people don't even recognize what fear does, how it operates. Fear and faith are the same spiritual force in opposite directions. And I've said this before, and I'll say it I'll again, them in the future.<laugh> the, it's easy to, to see this played out in say the fear of a dangerous animal. And since we happen to be in Texas, we'll use the rattlesnake it's ugly anyway. So we'll just, you know, fear of that rattlesnake would be faith in that snake's ability to harm or hurt you. Just, just as simple as that, it's confidence, confidence in that snake's ability to harm and hurt you. And you always have a choice over in Luke. Jesus gave us power and authority over serpents. Paul demonstrated that in reality, when the Viper came out and attached to, to him on the out of the firewood. So we can see very readily that faith and fear are the same confidence in just in different, different things. Like Jesus said, where is your faith? Is it in my word that said, go across the lake? Or is it in the storm that says I'm gonna kill you and sink you to the bottom of the lake?

Speaker 3:

Cause that storm was talking

Speaker 2:

Absolutely storms talk COVID talks

Speaker 3:

And any other disease that comes up that the media tries to make you afraid of. We've seen this repeatedly.

Speaker 2:

Oh, so repeatedly. It's

Speaker 3:

Just this last time, there was a lot more advertisement. Mm-hmm<affirmative>

Speaker 2:

Your bank account talks. All kinds of things are talking to you all the time. Where is your faith? Okay. All right. So we're already getting a little low on time, but there are a couple other things we can cover before we, um, before we break for this time, it is the same force. Therefore it operates by the same laws. For example, if you want a biblical definition of what faith is, you go straight to Hebrews 11 verse one. And I am going to read it in the amplify classic version because it's just so precise and exact. And it's just a literal definition of what faith is. Since we know that their opposite forces, they operate by the same laws. We're gonna take our time, uh, this broadcast and lease the next broadcast going through what faith is, scripturally speaking. Mm-hmm<affirmative> because we can look at the reciprocal and from the scriptures that tell us what faith is. We can see exactly what fear is. And once we know what fear is, we can nail it high to the wall. So now faith is, well, that's just pretty clear.<laugh> we're about to find out what faith is now. Faith is the assurance. It's the confirmation, it's the title deed of the things that we hope for being the proof of things we do not see, and the conviction of their reality, faith perceiving as real fact, what is not revealed to the census. It is so hard not to just take off preaching about faith<laugh> after reading what it is. Woo, but just as powerful as that is the title deed, to what you hope for the evidence of things, the conviction of their reality. That's just exactly how real and how forceful fear is in your life. Now that we know it's the same force, let's, let's find out what it is. Now. Fear is the assurance. It is the confirmation and it is the title deed of the things that you've dreaded, that are gonna happen, that you've worried about. Wow. It<affirmative>. It is the proof of things that we don't even see yet. And it's the conviction that, that going happen. Mm-hmm<affirmative> it is gonna happen just as sure as the world, how many times you heard that expression<laugh> I'll tell you what we got our vacation plan, but just as sure as the world, it comes time taking vacation, kids are gonna be sick. Mm-hmm

Speaker 4:

<affirmative>

Speaker 2:

It is the conviction that is of their reality. Perceiving as real fact, what is not revealed to the census. That's what fear is. You got no business with it, just as powerful as that is. And you know, we're of faith. People love to stand up and read, you know, read the definition of what faith is.<laugh>, it's the title de of what I've hoped for. Yeah. And fear's the title deed of what you've dreaded and hope doesn't happen. It, ain't nothing to mess around with something to get rid of. And we're in the process of finding that out and we're gonna find it out over the next, over the next few broadcasts. We're gonna go into it in depth. And we're gonna take our time. Just like we did this time. We're gonna go into it. We're gonna dissect it. We're gonna find out what it is, how it operates, what it does in your life, how to get rid of it. And um, you need to, you need to take these broadcasts, put'em on audio, download'em'em to the website, David weeder.org. They're all there for you. Listen to'em listen to'em get in the word. Look at the scriptures. Reread'em reread'em faith. Come by hearing, hearing by the word of God. Fear comes by hearing and hearing the lies of the devil. We're gonna look at that next time. Okay? Now in these last few seconds, don't be afraid that you have fear.<laugh> it sounds silly, but you know, you hear some of these things. You go, oh my God, do I have fear?<laugh> calm down. It's gonna be okay. Jesus is on the throne. And that's why you tuning into these broadcasts. Praise God. And that's why we whoa, teaching the word of God to help set you free praise. God. Well, freedom starts with Jesus. Mm. He is the alpha and the omega. You don't know what freedom from fear is unless Jesus is in your life. That's the starting point. It's where it all begins in the, the more Jesus you have and his reality, and what you know and understand about him is what will flush fear out of your life for he is love and love is what casts out, all fear. So don't go anywhere. Our son, Ryan getting ready to come and tell you just exactly how to meet him and how to make him a personal part of your life.

Speaker 5:

Hello everyone. My name is Ryan weeder. And, uh, you heard, just heard an amazing message of faith, uh, an amazing message on the word, but when you really get down to it, it's an amazing message about Jesus. And really that's what all this is about is Jesus. You know, he is love he's provision and he wants a family. He wants a, you you<laugh> as a part of the family. You know, it says in Romans, Romans five, that while we were yet sinners, Jesus came to this earth. Jesus perfection himself came to this earth while you were a sinner while you were on death. Row Bible says in Roman, six of the wages of sin is death. You were a sinner. You were on death row and Jesus showed up set you free and took your place because he wanted you as a part of the family. He wanted you as his son or his daughter. He loves you more than anyone else ever possibly could. And if you want to be a part of that family, have that perfect loving father. I would love to offer you this opportunity to pray and receive him into your heart, except that adoption. The Bible says in Romans chapter 10, verse nine and 10, that if you confess with your mouth, the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart, that God has raised him from the dead. You will be saved for what the heart one believes under righteousness and what the mouth confession is made under salvation. And that's what we're gonna do believe with our hearts confess with our mouths, the Lord Jesus, just like I says, and if you are ready, just repeat after me in prayer father, I come before you believing with my heart and confessing with my mouth, the Lord, Jesus Christ. I thank you for sending him to this earth, paying<affirmative> paying the price for my salvation. I receive it and accept my adoption into the family. I thank you, Lord. I love you Lord. And I know that you love me in Jesus name. Amen and amen and amen. Welcoming to the family. Glad to have you here.<laugh> and now that you are born again, you can really truly say, but my dad says, we always say at the end of the broadcast, and please say it with me. Jesus is Lord.
